This is an introductory course for people having a finance background. At first the most important blockchain principles are presented, explained to the extent they are important in supporting the cryptocurrency operations. The most interesting part of the course discusses the approaches related to portfolio allocations to crypto assets.

The course is primarily designed for investors having finance background.

No specific prerequisites are required, but the basic familiarity with the Modern Portfolio Theory, Capital Asset Pricing Model (CAPM), equity valuation methods and other investment related concepts, models would be helpful.

  • Content

    The course is structured so that the first two lectures serve as a non technical introduction to blockchains, cryptocurrencies that serves as the basis for the major topic of the course – cryptocurrencies as an asset class covering the most debated questions about crypto asset investments. The last lecture is a very general review of the blockchain ecosystem. Although logical and informative it is less connected to the earlier discussion.

  • Technology

    This is a short course for the non-technical learners. Nevertheless, it accurately and intuitively presents the very few main blockchain design principles, functionalities that directly support cryptocurrency transactions.

  • Applications

    The acquired knowledge application scope is primarily focused on the crypto asset investments. Learners that have completed Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) program or are familiar with the Modern Portfolio Theory related models will find the discussed crypto investment topics very interesting. In addition, interviews with the blockchain industry representatives will present more ideas how blockchains, cryptocurrencies are applied in the financial services.

  • Delivery

    The learning material is primarily presented as video lessons with a possibility to download slides summarizing the topics presented. Links to the (external) reading texts related to the financial theories discussed or more detailed blockchain explanations could be very helpful as an additional knowledge source. Learners have opportunity to discuss new concepts, ideas in the online discussion forums. The certificate-related exercises are available just in the paid version.
